How long does it take to build a commercial playground?

The timeframe for building a playground can vary depending on the size and type of playground, and whether you are including play equipment from our standard range, or we are custom manufacturing equipment for you. We typically suggest clients allow 20-30 weeks for a full playground design and build process, including installation.

Can you help me upgrade an existing commercial playground?

Yes, absolutely! Peppertown has loads of experience working with schools, day cares, ELCs, churches, holiday parks, pubs, councils and communities to renew and revitalise existing playgrounds through the inclusion of additional playground equipment.

Do you visit the commercial playground site?

As our floor plans and space requirements are clear, and most of our commercial equipment modular and straight forward, we no longer offer site inspections. Having said this, we welcome photos of sites if you are stuck for ideas.

Do you have commercial equipment that is made from recycled or recyclable materials?

A huge range of our products – from grab rails and monkey bars to swing frames – is constructed using Australian made steel and aluminium, which is 100% recyclable. UV Stabilized Duraplene play panels – used extensively throughout our commercial playgrounds, are made of recycled HDPE plastics which are also 100% recyclable. Our BlackMax timber posts have superior strengths and rigidity combined with the protective properties, toughness and life span of polyethylene. No Rot, No Rust, No Disposal issues, No chemical issues and, FULLY RECYCLABLE! These BlackMax posts achieve a braking force 40-50% higher than traditional treated pine posts.

What do I need to do to prepare my site for a commercial playground?

Commercial playgrounds are usually designed for a level site which makes for an easy installation. Some preparations may be required including, but not limited to:

  • Removing existing equipment
  • Levelling the site and looking at softfall options
  • Checking for underground services
  • Drainage and base preparations.

How much should I budget for commercial installation?

Most of our competitors charge a minimum of $30K for a basic commercial playground and suggest a minimum 25% of the equipment price to cover everything required for the physical install, excluding site works and safety surfacing. There are huge savings with a Peppertown playground as we provide a kitset option most all under $10K with simple installation instructions that anyone can assemble.

What are the lead times on commercial playground equipment?

The lead times for playground equipment can vary depending on manufacture and freight timeframes. We make sure to advise you of the expected lead time when you place your order, while our efficient order tracking processes ensure you know when your equipment will be arriving. It goes without saying that the sooner you order the better. We typically ask customers to allow 6-9 weeks from time of order but often have playgrounds ready for pick up or dispatch faster than this. Please allow extra time for seasonal spikes and transit delays around the Christmas period.

How do I maintain the commercial playground equipment?

Peppertown playgrounds are designed with low maintenance in mind, providing you with cost-effective, long-term solutions. Installation instructions and this website provides simple instructions that can be performed by your groundsperson or maintenance team.

Do you offer spare parts to replace damaged commercial equipment?

Yes. Peppertown has been constructing playgrounds for over 50 years and can offer both expertise and parts for replacing damaged equipment. As a general rule, you should replace parts of your play equipment with parts from your original supplier to ensure any warranties are not voided.

Can we choose colour combinations for our commercial playground?

Yes – where possible. Our most popular colour combinations are:

Natural – greens, beiges, browns

Primary – Reds, blues, yellows

Unique – teals, oranges, purples, pinks

Minimalistic – white, black, silver and greys

Where can I find information on Playground Grants and funding initiatives in Australia?

NSW Government Community Building Partnerships program

Queensland Education School Subsidy Scheme

Victorian School Building Authority Inclusive Schools Fund

Western Australia Community Grants Programs

Try too your local council for grants to promote community participation. Keep an eye out for not-for-profit organisations and private trusts which have annual grants programs. For example: The Ian Potter Foundation, Sidney Myer Fund and The Myer Foundation, and state-based funds like the Gambling Community Benefit Fund (QLD), ClubGrants (NSW), and Lotterywest (WA). Look local too, see what is happening around your town, make some phone calls and ask about grants

10 Tips to Better Grant Writing

  10. Have someone not familiar with your project review the proposal for clarity

Who might offer donations for our playground?
